BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | EU ‘committed’ to stiff CO2 cutsA lot of hard decisions need to be made now (really perhaps should have been made a decade ago) to cut the human causes of Global Warming before the next generation lives to discover the full consequences of ignoring it.The Big Companies are starting to wake up to the fact that its not in their long term interest to not start to adapt their processes to be more carbon neutral but there are still a lot of energy and other industries bleating about the effects on their short to medium term profits…Glad to see the EU are taking a standard line on the cuts.

Vista SP1 downloaders bite back | Channel Register: “Windows Vista customers have been complaining about problems with installing Microsoft’s first service pack for the unloved operating system.SP1 was made available as a manual download on the Windows Update site earlier this week, although the company also admitted that there were a staggering number of reasons why many users people won’t get their mitts on it until an unspecified date next month.”

Should or Shouldn’t I??
Lot of horror stories about Vista SP1 Installs (and for that matter Vista generally). I’ve got a fairly recent Vista PC but some problems are flagged with Nvidia drivers…. I may just hold off until things stabilise a bit…

Moment of Truth – washingtonpost.com: “Mr. Obama’s speech was an extraordinary moment of truth-telling”

Barack Obama is looking increasingly likely to be the Democratic Nominee – I still have my doubts about how he will stack up against McCain with his strong appeal.
My worry is that he hasn’t had the level of scrutiny of say Hilary Clinton and that post-Democratic Convention any surprise issues that might then come to light might open the door to the Republicans.
Its to be hoped that we don’t see another period of a republican agenda which would affect us all not just the USA..

Monopoly LiveHere is an entertaining web site- play online Monopoly by selecting properties in London on an updated Monopoly board and then win prizes by the on board GPS on a London Taxi you have selected from those taking part in the game. If other players land on your properties with houses or hotels then you can run up your total score for the day…. god knows how someone made £11bn in one day though – I thought I was doing well to make £1m!!

BBC NEWS | UK | Recovery teams continue grim task I think a lot of people living in the UK paused on Thursday, after the euphoria of the Olympic Bid win the previous day, and thought that they could have easily been there caught up in the horrific events in London. The London Bombings are frightening examples of the use of Terror to frighten and scare people into changing their daily lives. The British people will show their strength of character over the coming days by carrying on normally and not providing the terrorist with any hint of victory.
